Unfortunately, it seems that a lot of WMU students stay in the campus "bubble" and never venture out to get to know Kalamazoo.
It comes as a surprise to many that Kalamazoo's poverty rates are high. How high? Check out these statistics from the Poverty Reduction Initiative's website. This is one of the organizations that Kalamazoo ASB helped last year at one of their poverty simulations.
